On the occasion of the 29th Annual Session of the Crans Montana Forum, held in Brussels (Belgium) from June 27 to 30, a Special Program was dedicated to Citizenship & Passport : Globalization and Mobility.
 
Among the topics addressed :
 
1. You like it or not : Citizenship-by-investment Industry is here to stay

  • This Industry brings prosperity and investment to countries that would otherwise not attract foreign investment
  • In the Caribbean some countries running such programs (Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St Kitts & Nevis, St Lucia) receive as much as 40% of their GDP from such schemes
  • It gives people the ability to live and travel without sourcing multiple visas
  • Many are turning around their ailing economies by using Citizenship-by-Investment
  • In the European Union, there has been an economic boom among the countries that have adopted this policy such as Portugal, Cyprus, Malta and Hungary
  • Even Great Britain has its own Program !
 
2. But the growing credibility of this Young Industry requires Ethics and Regulation

  • How to manage the instances of mismanagement, lack of transparency and lack of information about its benefits?
  • Reshaping new Compliance strategies and methods
  • Prospects for an improved due diligence
  • Implementing an open cooperation with International Organizations (OECD, EU etc…)
